Chores & Stars — Privacy Policy

Data collection

Without Family sync, Chores & Stars collects nothing: all chores, goals, stars, profiles, and photos stay in a private database on your device. We never sell or share any information.

Family sync

Family sync is optional and off until a parent turns it on. It gives your family a code and a passphrase you choose; the code is the username and the passphrase is the password, the same on every device. While it is on, the people, chores, stars, goals, photos and drawings you add are copied to our server (Cloudflare, encrypted in transit) along with a random id for each device, so every phone in your family shows the same thing. None of it is linked to an email, phone number or Apple account, and none of it is used for tracking or advertising. Only devices that know your code and passphrase can read it.

"Leave this device" stops syncing and keeps the data on that phone. "Delete family account" permanently deletes the server copy, including photos, for every device. "Export family data" gives you a copy of everything.

Photos

If you choose to add a profile picture or a photo of a drawing, the app asks for permission to use your camera or photo library. Those photos are stored on your device inside the app, and with Family sync on, on our server for your family's other devices. When you save a drawing back to your camera roll, that copy goes only to your own photo library.

Children

Chores & Stars is designed for families. Without Family sync, no information about children (or anyone else) leaves the device. With it, a child's profile, chores and drawings are shared only with the devices in that family and are never linked to an identity or used for tracking.

Third parties

The app uses no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking of any kind. Family sync data is stored with Cloudflare, which hosts our server.

Deleting your data

Deleting the app from your device permanently deletes everything in it. To delete the family's server copy, open Settings → Family sync → Delete family account.

Changes

If this policy ever changes, the updated version will be posted at this address.
